Culinary Supervisor Receives Employee of the Year at Hospital
Lillie Hawkins’ motto is “we do what we do.” She says this whenever she’s faced with a last-minute request, an unforeseen issue, or if she is needed to put in extra hours at work.
She lives by this motto so much so that after over 30 years in the hospital’s dietary department, Lillie was set to retire in May of 2020, but that’s when COVID-19 hit their community the hardest. She decided to scrap that plan and continued working six days a week to ensure the patients and staff were well taken care of.
Lillie’s positive attitude and drive to do whatever it takes caught the eye of the administrative team at our partner facility in Henderson, North Carolina, and she was chosen as the facility’s 2020 Employee of the Year.
HHS Culinary Director Keith Weiss shares, “Lillie has been the pace car of our department and exemplifies her role as a supervisor and leader. She jumps in and assists in all areas. She is humble and reiterates ‘we do what we do’ and will tell you ‘it's nothing special, I just do what is needed.’”
Congratulations to Lillie on this achievement. Her values and the motto she lives by represent what it means to be OneHHS.
