In Newport, Tennessee, EVS Supervisor Luther Vinson has a talent for painting beautiful pictures. Every year since he began working with HHS in 2012, he has used the holiday season as an opportunity to paint beautiful works of art on windows around the facility. Last year, Luther was hospitalized with a serious illness for four months over the holiday season and was unable to do his paintings. Now that he is back to work, EVS Director Art Sams says that his paintings have an even more special meaning this year than ever before: “The C-suite has thanked Luther for the paintings of wreaths on their doors, and some individuals requested a specific painting, which Luther was quick to complete.”
Outside of work, Luther enjoys painting in his free time as well. His home is filled with paintings of wildlife, and he also enjoys doing pen and ink drawings of local celebrities, such as Popcorn Sutton, a local moonshine legend. Apart from the holidays, he has also completed paintings for special events, such as a Tennessee versus Georgia football game, at special request of the hospital CEO.
