In Marion, Illinois, the HHS EVS team decided to use the 2018 holiday season as an opportunity to give back. Usually the team participates in a gift exchange at the annual holiday party, but with many local community members in need this year, the team decided to use the money that they would have spent on gifts to provide for others. The team adopted two individuals from the Salvation Army Angel Tree—a four-year-old girl and a senior citizen. They purchased dolls, dinosaurs, shoes, clothes, and a winter coat for the girl, and hygiene products, sheets, and country CDs for the senior citizen. The local food pantry was also in need of assistance, so the team collected three large boxes of non-perishable food to deliver. EVS Director Angela Hale said of the team’s efforts: “The team gave with smiles on their faces. They are thankful for the lives that they have and wanted to give back in some way.”
