Team Member Demonstrates Honesty and Integrity in Patient Care
Written by: Elena Sprick
In Chattanooga, Tennessee, team member Brenda Adkins was cleaning a discharged room when came across an envelope that had been left behind. She inspected it to see if it was anything important, and inside she found a check for $1,000 along with two $100 bills. Brenda didn’t think twice about what to do next and reported her findings to a nurse so that she could help return the money to the patient. The patient was shocked that he had misplaced the money and promptly returned to claim it.
Director of EVS Santiago Toscani said, “They are so grateful for big-hearted, caring employees here at [the hospital]. Brenda impacted the overall patient experience even after the patient had been discharged by doing the right thing when no one else was looking. Thank you, Brenda!”
