Team Member Success Story: Ali Burtraw

Ali BurtrawAli Burtraw earned her Bachelor of Science in Community-Medical Dietetics in 2016 from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Once she graduated, Colorado was calling her name! She and her husband packed up and hit the road to the centennial state, where she started her career working as an enteral nutrition specialist, educating patients on how to manage home tube feedings.

In July 2017, she was offered a position as a clinical dietitian at Colorado Plains Medical Center (CPMC). This job allowed her to work with a wide array of patients and closely with the foodservice side of operations at the hospital. Only three months into the job, HHS transitioned to manage culinary and EVS services at the facility.

With HHS, Ali was able to expand the hospital’s malnutrition and community programs. Her success in implementing these programs was recognized, and she was promoted to a regional dietitian for the western division under the leadership of Corporate Registered Dietitian Liz Horton.

In May of this year, Ali received another promotion and transitioned into the director of food and nutrition services at our partner facility in Thornton, Colorado.

“The experience I’ve had with HHS has been wonderful. I never realized that as a registered dietitian, I’d have so many avenues for growth and promotions like I have with HHS. From growing in a clinical and leadership role with the regional dietitian team, to expanding my knowledge and experience as a food service director, I’ve learned so much and have been inspired and supported to continue to grow personally and professionally.”

Sending Thanks

Ali owes her success to a few people who have helped pave the way for her growth. “I want to thank Liz Horton for being the best corporate dietitian and for helping me grow as a clinician and leader and being so incredibly supportive since I joined HHS in 2017. I’d love to give a shout-out to Jeff Carson, the director at CPMC, who has been a huge help in preparing me and inspiring me to take the role as a director. Finally, I’d like to thank Chad Allison, my vice president, for seeing the potential in me and helping me advance my career and knowledge as a dietitian, leader, and director. I’m so fortunate to be part of this company, and thank you all for believing in me!”
