Veronica began working for HHS in November 2017 as a supplemental dietitian at speciality hospital in Webster, Texas. She worked at HHS part time during the weekends while working for another organization on weekdays. Veronica said that although the position with HHS was located an hour from her home, while the other position was just three miles away, she found her job with HHS much more fulfilling and hoped that it would turn into a full-time opportunity. In April 2018, just five months after beginning with HHS, Veronica was offered the opportunity to become the full-time clinical nutrition manager at a nearby sister facility.
“Everyone always tries to find that position that just seems to work for them, and I believe I have found my home within the HHS community.”
With nearly two decades of experience as a dietitian, Veronica has worked in nearly every area of dietetics. Her experience includes helping to develop the room service program for a major hospital, serving as the child nutrition dietitian for a school district, working as a certified diabetes educator, and hosting a nutrition radio segment on a Houston-area radio station for five years.
Veronica earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Foods from the University of Houston. Originally from San Antonio, Veronica resides in the Houston-area with her husband, three young sons, dog, and cat.
“I have only been in this position a little over three months and I absolutely love it! Yes, there are daily challenges with juggling the demands of two separate areas of dietetics, but the progress that has been made within both the foodservice and clinical nutrition operations is impressive. There is always room for continued improvement but I definitely see opportunity in every area of HHS. Everyone always tries to find that position that just seems to work for them, and I believe I have found my home within the HHS community.”
