In Texarkana, Texas, patient transport team member Martin Hunt received the Helping Hand Award from his facility. Recently, while transporting a patient, Martin noticed a quick change of condition in the patient. He quickly notified the clinical staff and was able to get immediate life-saving help for the individual. The ER team attended to the patient, who successfully recovered from the situation.
Email from Security Guard:
"I work in Security, and was in the back of the ER at the nurses station in front of room #8. I was tasked with watching our psych patient. I was heavy in discussion with my lieutenant when transporter Martin came by taking the patient to CT and noticed the patient in room #8 was having a seizure. Had he not brought this observation to the medical staff it could have been worse. I feel his quick observation made it possible for the patient to receive quick treatment from the nurses."
