During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lorenzo Lezcano began his career with HHS as an EVS assistant director. He began as a PM assistant director and took great pride in keeping the floors at his facility looking perfect. Lorenzo knew he wanted to grow with HHS, and he knew that making connections and creating a reputation as a reliable leader would help get him there. So, he used his time wisely and worked to develop relationships with the hospital administration and department directors.
His dedication and hard work paid off and in May of this year, he was promoted to director of EVS. Lorenzo looks forward to a long career with HHS: “I believe in this company and I believe this company truly cares for the well-being of its team members. I can see myself growing here and providing a great future for my family.”
Lorenzo credits his many mentors at HHS as the reason for his success: “Martha Morales was a great mentor and a friend. She helped my transition to this industry and [made it] much easier. Jaron Barnes really taught me the ins and outs of this business. He saw potential in me and without any hesitation, invested in me. Ryan Adams, my vice president, is a great mentor. I’m very thankful for his leadership and quick response every time I have a question. Without [these people] I wouldn’t be here.”
Lorenzo’s family is his greatest motivation. He has been married to his wife, Cynthia, for 21 years and they share one daughter and two sons. He is also a proud U.S. Army veteran and former paramedic.
What do you enjoy most about working with HHS?
“I love to help our team members grow. Every day during [our] huddle, I take the opportunity to encourage our team members to become the best they can be. I take the time to mentor them and help them understand their full potential. I believe that when you have happy team members the quality of the service that we provide will improve. I believe in people and the best thing we can do to move forward is to invest in people.”
What advice would you give your fellow team members?
“The best advice I can give to my fellow team members is [to] never give up. Look for opportunities to serve and grow, learn as much as you can, ask questions, and become an expert in the field that you are working in. If you want to grow in this company, there is plenty of opportunities, all you have to do is work hard and reach for them. We have a great support system, and great leaders that are ready to help us grow."
