Easy, Efficient Way to Deep Clean Tile

Tile flooring is known for its durability and easy maintenance. Whether you have ceramic, natural, or porcelain tile, it’s best practice to regularly sweep and mop to prevent damage to the grout and sheen. While some may want to use bleach or other ammonia-based cleaners on tile, these harsh chemicals actually can wreak havoc on the grout and ruin tiles over time. By using simple household supplies and by doing weekly light cleaning, your tile will stay looking great for years to come.

Items You Will Need:

  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • 1 gallon warm water
  • Gallon-sized bucket
  • Broom and dust pan
  • Microfiber mop
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Baking soda

Directions:

  • Mix ½ cup white vinegar with 1 gallon warm water in a large bucket and set aside.
  • Sweep the tile floors to remove any loose and large debris and dirt. Be sure to really get into the corners.
  • Dip the microfiber mop in the vinegar solution and wring out. Make sure that the mop is damp, but not overly saturated.
  • Mop the floor starting at the back corner of the room and working your way out of the area.
  • For tough stains, sprinkle baking soda on the wet tile or grout and scrub using the microfiber cloth. Once the stains are removed, wash over the area with the dampened, vinegar soaked mop.
  • Allow the area to air dry.
